On this day – 7th June 1494 the Treaty of Tordesillas was made between Spain and Portugal. The children leant a little about this and Mrs Rogers prepared a Spanish main course of paella followed by a Portuguese dessert called Serradurra.
The children had a celebration for the Queens Platinum Jubilee. They sang “God Save the Queen” and “Sweet Caroline” to everyone, had a short quiz for the adults and they had made biscuits and scones which everyone enjoyed.
Our latest food challenge was honey, which was dipped onto a cucumber stick. This went down very well with everyone!
On Tuesday 10th May, Mrs Rogers cooked a Mexican meal of Quesadillas followed by Tres Leches Cake to celebrate Mexican Mothers Day.
Thank you to all who attended our recent ladies clothes sale in Harbottle Village Hall where we raised £500 for our school funds.
The last Friday of term the food challenge was avocado. There was a mixed response but everyone had a try!
Thank you to all those who supported us at our recent Easter coffee morning where we raised the fantastic amount of £1256.50 for our school funds.
As part of Mrs Rogers “food from around the world”, today Mrs Rogers produced a Lithuanian meal. Mrs Rogers was born in Lithuania and lived there for many years and so was able to tell the children about life there.
They also learned how to say Hello – Labas and Goodbye – Sudie.
This weeks new food to tempt the children with was mangetout. It went down well with most of them and the staff too!
The children have been involved in planting some trees on our school playing area. The trees were supplied by Northumberland County Council as part of the Queens Platinum celebrations. Mrs Ward kindly helped with the planting and all the children took part.
