We are all pleased to be back to school and we welcome three new starters to our Reception class, Peter, Gwen and Phoebe.
The children have enjoyed exploring our newly organised Early Years / KS1 area.
We were able to hold a “Celebration of Life” service for Sue Joyner last week.
Sue had been head of our school for 18 years until her retirement in 2019 and we were all devastated by her sudden untimely death last year. However Sue left a huge legacy and the event was uplifting and a fitting tribute to this wonderful lady. We have a seat on the playing field dedicated to her memory, inscribed with the following –
In Memory of Sue Joyner – Gone but never forgotten
Our Grand Raffle was drawn last week and we can now tell you the final amount raised was £1,267. Thank you so much for your support.
Each child drew a ticket and we hope all the winners enjoy their prizes.
We said goodbye to our fabulous year fours.
They will all be missed very much and we wish them all the best for their journey to Middle School.
They will always be part of the Harbottle family.

During January and February, while the schools were closed, the Year 3 and 4 children were studying traditional poetry in English. They looked at a number of different poets, learning grammar as well as style from them. At the end of the topic they wrote these poems, inspired by what they had learnt and their love of their homes – places they have been “prisoners” in for some time over the past year! We are so very proud of the energy and enthusiasm with which they approached their learning from home and the obvious enjoyment they got from it.
Check out their poems in the gallery section.
