Please find attached a copy of the SIAMs inspection report, which I am sure you will all be delighted to see how well we have done.
We had a visit today from Thomson Bathgate, Robin Murray and Alan Thompson from the Coquetdale Masonic Lodge who gave us a donation of £100 from their Christmas raffle.
They also very kindly gave us a donation of £100 from Dr John Smail who was a former pupil. Dr John has very fond memories of his years at our school.
To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Mrs Wood prepared a lovely Chinese buffet for us.
2020 is the year of the rat!
On the last day of term we raised £22.70 for the Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day appeal.
We are delighted to have been given donations to the value of £1000 to assist us with our outdoor learning activities. This was coordinated by Rachael Dumbell and we are extremely grateful to her for securing us this money. We are also very grateful to the companies who gave, which were:
- Software Heads – £200.00
- Notify Technology – £100.00
- Diamond TRAC 360 – £100.00
- Body & Soul – £100.00
- Barbour Foundation – £500.00
Come along and watch our school Christmas performance which will be held on Monday 16th December at 5.30pm in St Michaels Church, Alwinton.
Well done to everyone who supported our non-uniform day in aid of the Children in Need appeal where we raised £76.52

In Years 3 and 4 we have been really enjoying our Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age
topic. We enjoyed a great afternoon out exploring the hillfort settlement at
Lordenshaws. We were joined by local historian and member of the local archaeology
society: Mrs Butterworth, who guided us around the site. She showed us the different
entrances to the hillfort, the storehouse locations, where the roundhouse would have
been, a bronze age cist and of course the famous rock art! The children asked some
thoughtful questions and made some interesting observations about the site. They all
agreed that the bracken would have made very comfy bedding!
We are pleased to inform everyone that we have appointed Helen Curry as our new Teaching Assistant. We are delighted to have Helen joining us and she will be a huge asset to the school team.
