In July we had a fantastic visit up to Kidlandlee.

The sun was out but there was still a good breeze so we were able to see the solar panels and wind turbine in action!

The children learnt all about Terri and Matthew’s plans for new wildlife areas including a wild flower area especially for bees. We learnt about how goats willow rotated with lavender means that bees have access to flowers all the time from when they wake up from hibernation!

We made our own seed bombs to attract and encourage bees and other insects to our gardens at home. We looked at the habitats of long grass areas compared to a woodland and a pond area. We were delighted with the variety of creatures that we found in the pond including many tadpoles, small frogs, back swimmers, newts and some unidentified giant beetles.
We also took part in a wonderful fairy school with Fairy Fern and made fairy doors and wands. A truly magical experience!
Thank you to Terri, Matthew, Kathy, Jess and Nikki (Fairy Fern) for being such wonderful hosts to us. We can’t wait to visit again soon.
